Hooking and prodding.
As if I need to start anything new!
WAFTA hosted Judy Stephens (from Adelaide) and Jo Franco (Perth) from Studio Blue, to run a one day workshop on hooking and prodding rugs. Now i know the difference! Hooking uses a crochet (like) hook to pull the fabric strip up, working from the front of the fabric and creating a looped surface. Prodding works from the back of the hessian and pushes the ends of the short strips of fabric to the front, leaving the blunt ends on the surface.
